How to set up and use a payment template on ATB FX

Save time and minimize potential errors using payment templates. Create partial or complete draft payments for any unsettled FX transaction of the same currency pair. You can also set up instructions in advance for recurring payments, like payroll.

  1. Log in to ATB FX.
    1. Since you’ve enrolled in two-factor authentication, you will be asked to verify your identity.

    To set up a payment template

  2. From the Home screen, click Payment Template, then click Create Template
  3. Enter a unique name for the Payment Template.
  4. Under the Pre-Trade Settlement Instructions heading, in the Funding Details section click +Add Existing to display the details of the funding account(s).
  5. Select one or multiple accounts, then click +Add Selected.
  6. Enter a percentage for each of the selected funding accounts, which must total 100 percent.
  7. Under the Pre-Trade Settlement Instructions heading, in the Delivery Details section, click +Add Existing to display the details of existing settlement instructions or +Add New.
  8. On the Existing Settlement Instruction screen, select one or more beneficiaries by clicking the associated checkbox on the left. When finished, click +Add Selected located at the bottom right.
  9. Enter the purpose and amount, or leave them blank to be added when booking the transaction.
  10. Click Save to use the template for trading. Once saved, a payment template cannot be modified.
  11. Payment templates are not pre-approved. If your profile is set up as a dual settlement, you’ll need to engage another user in your company to approve the transaction.

    How to use a payment template when executing a transaction

  12. From the Home screen, click Buy/Sell FX, then FX Spot & Forward.
  13. Select your Account, Currency, Amount and Tenor.
  14. Click Settle Now, then Copy from Template.
  15. The funding and delivery details from your template will be populated into the settlement instructions.
  16. Enter a percentage for each of the selected funding accounts and delivery details, which must total 100 percent.
    1. You can add more existing funding or settlement instructions by clicking +Add Existing or +Add New and split the funding using the percentage amount.
    2. Once the funding and delivery percentages equal 100 percent, then click Request Quote.
  17. Click BOOK to secure your preferred rate.
    1. Once you click BOOK, a trade is made at that rate and cannot be cancelled. Proceed to the next step or call ATB FX Team at 1-855-282-3939 to explore your options, such as reselling your funds back at market price; if outside business hours, send an email to atbfx@atb.com
  18. Once booked the transaction will settle using the template instructions you have supplied.
  19. On the Trade Confirmation screen, details of the trade are displayed.
  20. Click View Details to view the settlement information with the funding and delivery details. Alternatively, on the Post-Settlement page, click Copy from Template and complete steps fifteen and sixteen above.
