Northern Bear Golf Course will continue to host ATB Classic despite clubhouse fire

The ATB Classic Annual Golf Tournament tees off again at Northern Bear Golf Course, where they are set to celebrate despite challenges earlier this year.

Northern Bear Golf Course will remain the host of the ATB Classic this year, as the club continues to rebuild after a fire destroyed their clubhouse on January 13.

While this year’s ATB Classic PGA tour Americas stop from June 24 to 30, 2024 will look a bit different than last year, ATB is committed to supporting Northern Bear Golf Club as they navigate a year of loss and look to rebuild their iconic clubhouse. 

“We want our friends at Northern Bear Golf Club to know that we are there for them in good times and in bad. Losing their clubhouse earlier this year was a tragedy, and we will continue to support them in any way we can,” says Kris Noble, at ATB.

ATB has been a proud partner of the PGA Tour Canada for the last 28 years, and this year will be the second consecutive year the ATB Classic will be hosted at Northern Bear Golf Course.  

Ensuring that the tournament goes smoothly and all golfers and guests have an excellent experience is a priority for Blair McDowell, Director of Golf for Northern Bear Golf Course. Northern Bear will provide numerous dedicated spaces for players, caddies, volunteers and VIP hosting – including high-end suites.

“We will have temporary facilities to accommodate all of our guests, including clubhouse facilities, restaurant, lounge, pro shop and offices – to ensure a seamless experience for golfers and attendees,”  McDowell said. “We are truly grateful for the community support we have received and ATB is leading the way with their decision to partner with us again this year, we are thankful for all the support from our community,” he added. 

Northern Bear Golf Course, one of only three Jack Nicklaus Signature Courses in Canada, is located just 40 minutes from downtown Edmonton in Sherwood Park, Alberta. Consistently ranked among the top 50 golf courses in Canada by Score Golf, Northern Bear is celebrated as one of the finest layouts in Western Canada. Built on Nicklaus’ tradition of prestigious and spectacular designs, it offers the ultimate experience and challenge for every golf enthusiast. The ATB Classic is a part of the PGA Tour’s North America swing, which features nine events in Canada and one in the United States. The ATB Classic at Northern Bear Golf Club will see tour professionals competing for a prize purse of $225,000. Despite the challenges of 2024 with the clubhouse fire, the ATB Classic tournament will help serve as a catalyst for Northern Bear – swinging the club towards a fresh start and brighter future.
