ATB and the University of Alberta are embarking on some exciting work in the field of artificial intelligence (AI).

Students, professors and ATB experts will push the boundaries of AI and machine learning, thanks to a four year partnership. ATB is making an initial contribution of $940,000.

The team will initially focus on applying data science and machine learning to entrepreneurial growth, real-time fraud detection, and new customer experiences. As they apply insights to these areas, they’ll go further in exploring how ATB can leverage technology to support the financial well-being of Albertans.

“Every business and individual stands to benefit from the application of AI,” said Wellington Holbrook, ATB’s Chief Transformation Officer.

“The opportunity to collaborate with UAlberta as a key pillar in ATB’s broader AI strategy is significant. We’re able to reinforce the fabric of Alberta’s tech ecosystem with a focus on developing and benefitting the key resource at the heart of it all—people.”
