Garnet Altwasser (Brooks) is the former President and CEO of
Lakeside Farm Industries Ltd. Garnet has served on numerous boards in
agribusiness — as Director of the Alberta Division of the Canadian Feed
Manufacturer Association, Director of Alberta Cattle Feeders Association,
Chairman of Canadian Meat Council and Chairman
of Veterinary Infectious Diseases Organization.
Doug Baker (Calgary) is an independent businessman and corporate director with more than 30 years experience in the oil and gas industry. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. During his career Mr. Baker has served as the CFO for six public oil and gas companies and currently serves on the board or chairs the audit committees of several companies including True Energy Trust, Winstar Resources Ltd., Orleans Energy Ltd., Century Energy Ltd. and Martin Head Oil & Gas Ltd. He also manages a private investment fund and is involved with several non-profit boards.

Jim Carter served with Syncrude Canada Ltd. for more than 27 years, including 10 years as President and 18 years as Chief Operating Officer. Prior to joining Syncrude, Mr. Carter held progressively responsible management positions at McIntyre Mines Ltd. and the Iron Ore Company of Canada.
Mr. Carter currently serves on the Board of Directors of EPCOR Inc., Finning International Inc., CAREERS: The Next Generation, Clark Builders, and the Climate Change Emissions Management Corporation. In addition, for the past two years, Mr. Carter has chaired the Alberta Carbon Capture and Storage Development Council for the Government of Alberta.
He is a director and past chair of the Mining Association of Canada, where he championed development of the Toward Sustainable Mining Initiative. Mr. Carter was also a member, director, and executive member of the Alberta Chamber of Resources for many years, where he championed the Oil Sands Technology Roadmap and Aboriginal Programs Project.
Mr. Carter holds a B.Sc. (Mining, Engineering) and is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration. He is the recipient of three honorary Doctorates from the Technical University of Nova Scotia (Engineering, 1995), University of Alberta (Science, 2004), and the University of Prince Edward Island (Law, 2008). In 2005, he was named Resource Person of the Year by the Alberta Chamber of Resources, and was inducted as a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering.

Jim Drinkwater has extensive experience as a financial executive in both the public and private sectors in Alberta with a focus on financing and investment management. His experience includes roles as Vice President and Treasurer with TELUS Corporation, Assistant Deputy Provincial Treasurer with Alberta Treasury and as Vice President Treasury and Corporate Finance with a Canadian regional bank. Mr. Drinkwater also spent two years in Europe as Finance Director of a mobile phone company.
He is currently Vice Chair of the University of Alberta Endowment Fund Investment Committee, a member of the Board Investment Committee of the Alberta Teachers’ Retirement Fund, and a member of the Province of Alberta’s Advisory Committee on Alternative Capital Financing. He is a past Director and Chairman of the Board of Alberta Municipal Financing Corporation (now the Alberta Capital Finance Authority), and also served as a member of the Alberta Public Service Pension Plan Investment Committee.
Mr. Drinkwater is a member of the Financial Executives Institute and was Chairman of the 2008 Canadian Conference Committee, a past national Director of that organization, and a past member of their Pension Committee.

Art Froehlich (Calgary) is a partner of AdFarm, one of
North America's largest agricultural marketing communications companies. Mr.
Froehlich has spent the last 25 years working in primary food production,
agri-business and agrimarketing in Canada, United States, Europe, South America
and Asia. In 2005, he received the distinguished Agrologist Award from the
Alberta Institue of Agrologists. Mr. Froehlich serves as chair of the Executive
Committee for the Agricultural Biotechnology International Conference (ABIC)
2007, to be held in Calgary.

Patricia Glenn is an Information Systems Professional (ISP/ITCP) and a Certified Management Consultant (CMC). She has worked in the information technology industry and sector and in international trade. Miss Glenn chaired the Geomatics Cluster initiative under C-Prosperity (Calgary) and was the co-chairman of the Regional Capital Pipeline Flagship Initiative.
She is on the board of the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters, Alberta Division and chaired the inaugural Alberta Export Awards (2009). She is also on the board of the Canadian Information Processing Society (CIPS) – Alberta.
She has been on a number of corporate and non-profit boards, the later at the section, provincial, national and international level; the Alberta Economic Development Authority; the (Alberta) Premier’s Council on Science and Technology; the National Forum on Science and Technology; the (Canadian) International Trade Advisory Council; the National Sector Team for Information Technology and Telecommunications; and Conference Board of Canada councils.

Joan Hertz, Q.C. (Edmonton) is the former Corporate Counsel, Strategic Affairs for Capital Health and is a lawyer and strategic consultant. She has extensive community board involvement including acting as Director for Alberta’s Promise, Kid’s Kottage Foundation, and formerly the Edmonton Catholic Cemeteries Board and St. Thomas More Lawyers Guild. She is involved in the selection of judges and is currently Chair of the Provincial Court Nominating Committee and past member of the Federal Judicial Advisory Committee.

Linda Hohol (Calgary) is the former president of the TSX Venture Exchange,
Canada's public venture capital marketplace. She also serves
as a director of the Calgary Airport Authority, EllisDon Construction Canadian
Foundation for Innovation, and United Way of Calgary. Ms. Hohol co-chaired
the United Way of Calgary 2006 campaign, where $50 million was raised. Ms. Hohol
has also been a director of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and the Alberta
Electric Systems Operator, among others. Until 1999,
Ms. Hohol was Executive Vice President, Wealth Management
with CIBC.

Bern Kotelko (Vegreville) is President of Highland Feeders
Ltd., and serves as co-chair for Alberta Prion Research and a director for the
Alberta Economic Development Authority. Mr. Kotelko was named among the Alberta Venture 50
Most Influential in 2007 and is the recipient of several Growing Alberta
Leadership Awards, a University of Alberta Alumni Award of Excellence, a
National Environmental Stewardship Award, an Alberta Insitute of Agrologists
Distinguished Agrologist Award, an AsTec Award for Environmental Innovation and an Alberta Cattle Commission Environmental
Stewardship Award. He has received certification from the Institute of Corporate Directors.
Colette Miller

Colette Miller (Vegreville) is a senior partner with Wilde and Company Chartered Accountants and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. She specializes in agriculture business including taxation, finance and succession planning, enhanced by her personal farming experience with her husband on their cattle and grain operation.
She has extensive experience with the public sector as an auditor, consultant and instructor for municipalities, school divisions and health organizations. An active member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta (ICAA) and an advocate for CA education, Colette has taken on a number of roles in the institute, including serving on ICAA Council from 2004 to 2008, where she served a term as Secretary-Treasurer.

Dr. Michael Percy (Edmonton) is the Dean of the University of Alberta School of Business. He is the author and co-author of four books and numerous articles on public policy, international trade and economic development. Dr. Percy has served on the editorial boards of the Canadian Journal of Economics and has been an active commentator on current public policy issues.
He also serves on numerous boards including the Alberta Economic Development Authority and a Board Member of the Alberta China Petroleum Centre. In addition, Dr. Percy served as Chair of the Advisory Council for the Provincial Minister of Energy and was also a member of the Federal Expert Panel to Review Equalization and Territorial Funding Formula.
Robert (Bob) Splane Chairman of the Board

Bob Splane has extensive board governance expertise in the financial services and insurance
industries. He served as chair for the Agriculture Financial Services
Corporation (AFSC) for 10 years following his role as President and Managing
Director with the organization. He was the founding president of the Bank of
Alberta, which became the Canadian Western Bank where he was also the first
president. Among the many boards he has been active on, Mr. Splane served as
chair for the Alberta Municipal Financing Corporation (now Alberta Capital
Finance Authority) and the Credit Union Deposit Guarantee Corporation, and he
served on the board of directors for the Equitable Life Insurance Company. He
has been an executive council member with the Canadian Bankers Association and
director of the Arbitrators Institute of Canada Foundation as well as a member
of the Prince Rupert Port Authority. Mr. Splane was also Assistant Deputy
Provincial Treasurer in Alberta. His community involvement includes serving as
campaign chair for the United Way of Edmonton and Area.

Wayne Wagner (Edmonton) is the former President of
Lehigh Inland Cement Limited and worked for the company for more than 38
years. With extensive experience in the
industry, Wayne served as a board member for the Cement Association of Canada
and the Portland Cement Association. He also sat on the board of the
Agriculture Financial Services Corporation. Wayne has participated in community
efforts as Director and board member for the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce and
the Edmonton YMCA, respectively.
